Dr. Julie has been practicing acupuncture for over 20 years and has treated thousands of patients all over the world. Although she treats all conditions, she is a specialist in Women’s Health (Fertility, Menopause etc), Pain (Sports Injuries, Chronic pain), and Anti-Aging/Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture. She offers a gentle, integrated, and balanced approach to health. She provides exceptional individualized care and her extensive expertise and love of the medicine come through in each treatment. Dr. Julie’s goal is to help others heal, get back to what they love to do, achieve their goals, and live their lives to the fullest.
Dr. Julie attended Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego where she received both her Masters and Doctorate degrees in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She is board certified and licensed by the California, Florida, and Michigan Acupuncture Boards as well with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She is ABORM (Fertility) trained.
Dr. Julie did postgraduate studies at the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital in Chengdu, China; and studied additional healing modalities throughout her travels in Thailand, India, Nepal, Tibet, and Peru.
Dr. Julie has lived on the West Coast for 30 years (CA and Alaska). She relocated back to La Jolla from Fair Oaks, CA where she was specializing in Fertility, Anxiety, Stress, and Pain. In 2020 she worked and studied in Ann Arbor, MI with a renowned Chinese acupuncturist, surgeon, and Buddhist monk, Dr. Lu. There she learned more about treating difficult cases such as ALS, cancer, and others with referrals from the University of Michigan Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital. Prior to 2020, she worked in private practice, in community clinics for the underserved, and taught and supervised in the student clinic at East West College of Natural Medicine in Sarasota, FL. She also spent 10 years as resident acupuncturist on various Princess Cruise ships treating patients from all over the world. She was consistently one of the top 5 acupuncturists on over 100 ships and had an extremely popular and busy practice.
Dr. Julie’s interest in health, fitness, and nutrition started at an early age. She was in The Kalamazoo Ballet Arts Company and trained with the Boston Ballet. Through nutrition, exercise and alternative healing; she learned how to stay lean, energetic, and strong in order to keep up with the rigorous training. This knowledge of health she applied to her life as well. She attended the University of Michigan and graduated with a B.A. in French, minor in pre-med. During this time, she also competed and lettered on U of M’s Varsity Cross Country and Track Teams. Her passion for health and helping others was strong, but conventional medicine didn’t feel like the right fit. On a holiday in Hawaii, she experienced acupuncture for the first time and it changed her life. This was the medicine for which she had been looking. The treatment was so immediate and profound that she decided to go back to school and become an acupuncturist.
In Dr. Julie’s spare time she enjoys running, yoga, dance, being in nature, playing with dogs, and (of course!) traveling the world.
